MD cast / crew exclusive interviews
« Thread started on: Jun 10th, 2014, 1:38pm »

To mark the 20th anniversary of the release of MD2 - Time did a featurette that included interviews of the director /producer & some of the cast members (including Vincent). It also includes some rare photos. Click here -

Vincent's interview excerpt -

Fun fact- He was 2nd choice to play Adam.

Vince on getting the role of Adam:

"Yeah, thatís right. It was kind of strange. Definitely a life-changing event. I was cast along with two other Hawks: Larson and McGill. Their names are like burned in my memory. At that point I was cast as one of them, I just wasnít cast as a particular one of them. I remember seeing my Polaroid on the wall with just three names slashed beneath it. Then the young kid that they had hired to do Adam Banks, he was let go, and they asked me if I would audition while I was already there in Minneapolis, and so I did. Itís really a very few memories of those ages but I remember that audition pretty clearly, and I got the part. I think selfishly that my favorite scene is when I first get introduced to the Ducks, because as I grew older, I sort of realized that it wasnít my craft. But at that age, 11 years old or however old I was when I did that, itís probably the finest 3 seconds of acting I ever did."

Vincent on D2-

"We just had a lot of fun off the set, as you might imagine. I went from 11 to 16, or I guess almost 17 years old during those films, so that was huge growing up for me. It was really amazing for me to go leave my suburban home town and meet kids that were friends with me without animosity and without sort of that stereotypical suburban spin on childhood. I was thrust in with kids that were just much different than what I was used to, and I was embraced by them. I think 2 would be everybodyís favorite, right? I donít know.I think 1 was definitely the least silly of the three for me, but 2 ó 2 was my favorite because that was the age that I was I think most conscious. I wasnít a little boy and I wasnít ó by the time we did 3, I was kind of on my way out I think of the industry anyway. And again those were the years that I think I had the most fun behind the scenes, during Ducks 2."

Vince on Emilio-

"Emilio was a tremendous presence. He was a shock to me as a 12 year old because he was certainly the first star that I had ever worked with. You wouldnít know it to meet him. He was always very gracious and always very helpful and he treated us all like we had all been friends for years. Iíve since seen him in Los Angeles and I have to say I was shocked and flattered: I recognized him turning and I said his name, and he turned and he had me immediately. He said my name immediately. After all those years, I mean I canít even do that with people that I meet now the next day. He did it after all those years, after all the faces"

On the possibility of a MD4 -

KERNER (producer): "There have been a number of times that we have discussed with the studio the idea of either bringing it back and bringing it back possibly with one or two of the guys who are now in their thirties as the coaches, and having a few more of them be their friends in their lives and having the kids come back. And Iíve been pitched a story two or three times. It hasnít been the right story yet, but the idea of doing that is something Steve and I have talked about and actually Disney and I have talked about. So Iím not going to fuel the rumor mill that itís going to happen, but Iím saying to you that the studio said to us, ďWeíd be interested if you come to us with the right story.Ē And thatís something that weíve been all thinking about independently and I think that we may be coming closer to having the right idea for that"

That's amazing news, Illuminated! Thanks for sharing!

For months I thought this messageboard was disabled. Do you know when it got back?

Hi Therese!

Long time no hear. How come you don't post anymore?

The site has been working fine. It was disabled temporarily back in 2011 but it's been accessible ever since.

I've been mostly posting on the facebook page. Did you check out Vincent's latest photos?

Illuminated,

A big thank you for sticking by this messageboard!

I've been working for the past three years here in university and the work has just filled my schedule with a lot of stuff. I haven't had a decent break in months!

I'm still checking FB and SOT from time to time but I don't really have the resources anymore to update, unlike you and Lorie. She's just been so generous in keeping us updated on Vince.

Yes I've seen the latest photos and other updates on the Facebook. You guys are doing a great job keeping the spirit alive! Vincent looks cool

It's just been amazing for me that after all these years (more than a decade) of maintaining the website and the messageboard, some people are still big fans of the MD movies and Vince. I am also glad that most of the photos from Sween On Top have been preserved in Facebook.

There are not enough words to say thank you!
I'll still be around from time to time but not as much as I'd like to! Keep in touch.
